How strongman Eddie Hall could have become the Beast of Olympic swimming

HAD things turned out differently the people of North Staffordshire could have been cheering on ‘The Beast’ as he cleaved a path through the Olympic swimming pool.

But Eddie Hall turned his back on a sporting career as a top class swimmer and instead took up body building.

As a result Eddie, known as ‘The Beast’, is now a full time strongman and last month was crowned Britain’s Strongest Man for the third consecutive year.

The 28-year-old from Clayton – who will go on to represent his country at this year’s World’s Strongest Man event where he will be trying to better last year’s fourth placing – said: “I was a swimmer when I was at school, at Clayton High School.
